Position Announcement:
Honors Advisor

The Texas Woman’s University Honors Scholar Program is accepting applications for a new
full-time salaried position with duties that are split between the honors program and the
Academic Advising Center. We are seeking someone who would enjoy working with bright,
motivated students and would like to be part of a dynamic program here at TWU.

The position provides professional development opportunities through paid conference
travel and paid travel overseas as part of the honors program’s travel abroad initiative.

Salary: Competitive with additional pay for teaching UNIV 1011; starts 9/1/04

Duties will include:

• Serving as Academic Advisor for freshman honors students (and other students on an “as
needed” basis).
• Assisting Director in the administration of the Honors Scholar Program.
• Assisting honors students in preparing/submitting research and creative projects to
conferences and symposia.
• Teaching honors UNIV 1011 (additional compensation provided).
• Helping prepare honors students to apply for fellowships, internships, prestigious
scholarships, and graduate/professional schools.
• Serving as advisor (along with Director) to honors student organization.
• Recruiting new honors students.
• Working with Director to develop honors curriculum.

Qualifications:

• B.A.; preference given to individuals with master’s degrees or who are currently
enrolled in graduate study.
• Excellent undergraduate record with preference for individuals who have been part of an
honors program.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work with students in diverse fields
and with diverse personal backgrounds.
• Ability to travel (2-3 times per year) and interest in professional development in the
field of higher education.
